So.

[ø] I’ve signed up for a run, like, finally! The Underhill 8k Run for Women is what I’ve put my name to & I really can’t wait. Five miles seems like a nice inbetween, almost perfect distance to get to and I’m embarking on a training program right away (courtesy of Runner’s World – helloooo Smart Coach, where have you been since January?!)
[ø] So my run today was: easy, 2 miles, in about 25-30 minutes. I’m none too sure, I was sans watch/iPod today since it lies in the car of the boyfriend I banished out of my house for two hours so that I could do this run. I knew karma would come back to bite me! Anyway, it involved heat and hills and lots of walking breaks but what matters is that I got out there, yay.
[ø] Weighed myself for the first time since… well, the first time, I think. Anddddd *drumroll* I’m 9 stone 11! That’s 137lbs, wowwww. No idea what I measure but I’ll roll out some stats soon, methinks.

That’s all for now, I must dash since I think I’m about to have a nosebleed. Running makes my nose burn, anybody have any idea why?

atm.

I’m proudly getting right back into the swing of things.

On Saturday, me & PRC (that’s the Mr. to you, okay?) had a mahoosive struggle with a bike rack and finally went for a leisurely cycle from Penshurst to Tonbridge and back following Regional Route 12, which is pretty much as flat as they come apart from a stinking hill right at the start (which therefore means, right at the end too). It was the most beautiful day for it, with the sun beating down, as we cut through the Kentish countryside. We took a little time out in Tonbridge to refresh ourselves with ice lollies (though we couldn’t venture far since we didn’t bring bike locks) and then swiftly made our return to Penshurst for a half-arsed picnic. Altogether, 11.24 mi. Thank you, thank you.

On Sunday, while not strictly a sport, we joined some old friends for a good couple of games of Laserquest! Seriously – in such a heated room, where you do not stop running for the best part of an hour, when you come out with your t-shirt soaked in sweat… how can you not class that as a workout? Thoroughly enjoyable. Our local seems to have an actual ‘Tired of the gym?’ type scheme, seemingly for like-minded people (no twerpy children, thank goodness) to go & play Laserquest just to get fit. Sounds good to me! I can see myself heading on down there on a Tuesday night in future.
In the evening, I learned new weights techniques (I lift two x 2kg in my hands, I’m such a beginner) and PRC taught me how to do sit-up’s properly. Flat stomach, here I come!

Keeping up the daily regime, though it nearly never was, I ended up going out for a jog tonight. It only ended up to be 1.58 mi in 18 minutes – but let’s not forget the big-off hill and the fact that I haven’t actually done a run for ages. Feel all the more better for it though. Torn over whether to better my time or to keep going with the distance. I’m totally thinking distance. Even looking at some 5k and 10k runs to do in September and October just to keep me at it. Considering Barking Park 5k (East End represent, yo’) and Demelza or Run Richmond for the 10k.

Tomorrow, I’m hoping to keep up the fitness hitness and maybe tear the streets up with my bicycle. Or maybe another run. Thinking about maybe looking up some workout and/or yoga videos online – if anybody has any recommendations, feel free to push ‘em forward!

Love you and leave you.

So, after downing a pint of Haagan-Dazs ice cream this evening after work, I realised things have to change. I mean, I’m not even on my monthlies for crying out loud! How can I excuse a whole tub of Pralines ‘n’ Cream? The answer is: I can’t. I just can’t. I can only think of how to justify my major mistake.

That is by running. And cycling. And the occasional swim, and every other fitness-related activity inbetween. Thus begins the deluded diary of a 22-year old young lady trying her best to lose weight and get fit the hard sensible way.

And so I have decided that tomorrow morning I am going to get up, eat porridge (& Onken, yumyum) and NOT a Pot Noodle for breakfast. I am going to do crunches and sit ups and weights and enjoy my day off work with a lovely, scenic 12 mile bike ride from my home to Oxted — I already can’t wait. I’ve mapped my route already just to check the elevation levels (5% from Biggin Hill through to Tatsfied, ouch; but -8% down Titsey Hill, absolute wheeeeeeee!) and have almost been obsessively checking the weather as much as my boyfriend does. I mean, look how lovely the weather is going to be:

Well, at least it’s not raining!

Ciao for now. Oh and for the record, I’ll want to be keeping a… record (LOL, ummm) of all of this so expect plentiful calorie counting, stomach crunching, food analyzing, route planning, mileage and the like. Oh and I’ll weigh/measure myself tomorrow morning too (before the Onken, OH ONKEN) just so that I know what not to (un)achieve. I say tomorrow morning and I really mean in a few hours time. Oops.
